What is acetic acid?
Acetic acid is a weak acid that is used in various industries and its main use is in the food industry. The edible type of this substance is used as flavoring in this industry and can improve the taste of food products.
Maintenance and guidance:
When in contact with acetic acid, use protective clothing resistant to acid penetration. Where acetic acid is stored, all sources of ignition such as smoking, sparks or open flames should be kept away. Prevent acetic acid from entering waterways, sewers, basements, or confined areas. To remove acetic acid vapor, special foam, soil, sand or non-combustible materials can be used. Use clean, non-sticky tools to collect absorbed material. Acetic acid should be stored separately from food and feed, oxidants, strong acids and bases and in special containers with tight lids in a dry place with proper ventilation .
Applications of acetic acid :
Production of vinyl acetate monomer
Homemade vinegar production
in oil production
As a precursor of polystyrene and cellulose acetate
For recrystallization to purify organic compounds
Production of organic or inorganic salts
An important chemical reagent for the production of chemical compounds
Production of cellulose acetate for photographic film
Due to its antibacterial properties, it is used to produce disinfectants
Polyvinyl acetate for wood glue
Acetic acid is used in dyeing.
Production of synthetic fibers and fabrics Rubber production
In agriculture as a herbicide and weed killer
In the production of descaling materials
In the industrial preparation of dimethyl terephthalate (DMT)
In medical science, to treat cancer by injecting it directly into the tumor
It plays an important role in the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats.
In the food industry, it is used as an acidity regulator and seasoning with the food additive code E260.
